We are pleased to announce that the Elkhorn Mining & Panning Co. is NOW OPEN near the train station! Step back in time where panning for gems was a favorite pastime! Cross over the Elkhorn covered bridge and take part in the panning fun. Purchase a bag of mining rough in our Woodland Station or at the Elkhorn Mining Sluice and pan for gems! Each bag of rough contains amazing geological finds! Choose from precious gems, emeralds and rubies, or even ancient fossils! Once you have sifted out all your gems you will receive a geological card to learn about your find! A great activity for kids and adults! A great way to cool off on a hot day! Hey Kids….search for Old Timer “Miner Phil” and ask him about his finds at the Elkhorn Mining Sluice!
