Did You Know?

  • These snakes are called ball pythons because when they feel threatened they curl into a tight ball.
  • Pythons incubate and protect their eggs by coiling around them. If the temperature drops too low the female will contract her muscles rhythmically to raise the temperature a few degrees.
    Once the eggs hatch, however, the baby pythons must fend for themselves.
