As an intern in a very busy non-profit Discovery Center, you will be offered hands-on experience working with Zookeepers and Education Staff. Each intern will learn the day-to-day functions of Southwick’s Zoo as well as animal care and husbandry. As an intern, you will clean cages, show animals to visitors, direct visitors throughout the zoo, enter data into zoo computers, draft documents for zoo use, and observe animals for zoo personnel. The responsibilities of an intern will be helping the Earth Discovery Center staff set up for educational presentations, answering visitor questions about environmental issues, animal ecology and other topics.

Deadline for Fall (September-December) Interns is August 1
Deadline for January term Interns in November 1
Deadline for Spring (February-May) Interns is January 1.
Deadline for Summer (May – August) Interns is April 15.
